Randy Michaels Arrested for DWI

Radio personality and former Tribune Company Chief Executive Officer Randy Michaels was arrested for drinking and driving in the early morning hours last Friday. Michaels, whose real name is Benjamin Homel, was found by a local law enforcement agent in a muddy construction zone just outside of Cincinnati, Ohio. Michaels' vehicle was surrounded by water that reached the vehicle's carriage. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer at the scene described Michaels as having bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. Michaels was asked to perform several field sobriety tests, including walking in a straight line and standing on one foot, which he performed poorly on. Michaels was arrested and taken to a local jail, where, after consulting with an attorney, he refused to take a breath analysis (also known as a breathalyzer) test to determine his blood alcohol content. Michaels was also cited for driving in a construction zone. Michaels is so far pleading not guilty, but a court date has not yet been announced. The media industry veteran was forced to resign amid scandal as CEO of Tribune Co. last year after allegations of raunchy, frat-boy-like behavior on the job surfaced. Michaels rebounded, however, after forming a new media company this past June.
While Michaels' arrest occurred in Cincinnati, any experienced Los Angeles DUI Defense Attorney can tell you that drinking and driving is also taken very seriously here in Los Angeles. If you have been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) or driving while intoxicated (DWI), you need to find yourself a capable and experienced
Los Angeles DUI Defense Attorney right away. Having the right
Los Angeles DUI Defense Attorney by your side can mean the difference between having to go to jail and having charges reduced or dismissed altogether. An aggressive
Los Angeles DUI Defense Attorney will call into question the accuracy of both Field Sobriety Tests and breath tests, both of which are notoriously inaccurate in determining a person's actual impairment or sobriety while driving. Field sobriety tests are not always accurate predictors of alcohol impairment because balance, coordination and mental function are often times impaired by non-alcohol-related health issues such as illness or fatigue. An experienced
Los Angeles DUI Defense Attorney can also tell you that breath tests have been heavily scrutinized in recent years because of their inaccuracy. Many different models of breath analysis machines are notoriously difficult to keep completely clean and correctly calibrated, which can lead to falsely-high test results for many people.
