Springfield Arrested for DUI
Former 1980's heartthrob and musician Rick Springfield was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) earlier this month after a police stop in Malibu. According to police reports, Springfield was driving through Malibu around 8 o'clock in the evening when he was pulled over by local law enforcement agents for a traffic violation. Upon approaching the singer/actor's 1963 Corvette Stingray, officers smelled alcohol and asked Springfield to perform several sobriety tests. After performing poorly on the field sobriety tests, Springfield was arrested and taken to a local jail where two separate chemical tests revealed a blood alcohol concentration of both 0.10% and 0.08%. Springfield reportedly became belligerent when he was told by officers that his vehicle would be towed and threatened one of the officers at the scene. Springfield spent an unspecified amount of time in jail before being released on his own recognizance.
