Rose Pleads Guilty to DUI
Former professional basketball player and current ESPN analyst Jalen Rose pleaded guilty this past Wednesday in a Bloomfield Hills, Michigan court to driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) following his arrest last March. Rose, who was a member of the University of Michigan's famed Fab Five, was driving down an icy highway road on March 11th when he lost control of his vehicle, skidded off the road and rolled over. No injuries to either Rose or his female passenger were reported, but when local law enforcement agents arrived at the scene, they reportedly smelled alcohol on Rose and testified that he had "slightly bloodshot eyes." Rose was given several field sobriety tests, which he reportedly performed poorly on. However, Rose denied having consumed any alcoholic beverages that evening and insisted to officers that there was no reason for him to be arrested. Rose later submitted to chemical tests to measure his blood alcohol content, with one test revealing that his blood alcohol content was as high as 0.12%, which is well above Michigan's legal limit of 0.08%. In court on Wednesday, however, Rose admitted to having had as many as six very large alcoholic beverages earlier in the evening in question. Rose is facing up to 93 days in jail as well as fines and court fees and will be sentenced on July 27th.
