Aguilera Arrested for Public Intoxication
Superstar pop singer Christina Aguilera was arrested for public intoxication several weeks ago after local law enforcement agents pulled over the car she was a passenger in. According to reports, Aguilera and her boyfriend, Matthew Rutler, were driving through the West Hollywood portion of Los Angeles around 2:45 in the morning when local law enforcement officials spotted Rutler driving his vehicle "erratically." Officers at the scene believed Rutler to have been driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) and arrested him on misdemeanor DUI charges. Police reports note that Aguilera was "extremely intoxicated," and "unable to take care of herself." The singer was taken into police custody for public intoxication and taken to a local jail. She was later released after posting $250 bail. It has been a difficult year for the acclaimed pop singer with the divorce from her husband of five years, music producer Jordan Bratman, the dismal run of her first film, "Burlesque," and a major flub while singing the national anthem at this year's Super Bowl. Aguilera's arrest should not require legal action as the arrest was directed mostly at keeping her safe until she became sober again.
