Rottman Arrested for DUI
Actor Ryan Rottman was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) earlier this month after local law enforcement agents spotted him driving up a curb in Hollywood. Rottman, who is 27 years old, was immediately pulled over on July 7th after police spotted his dangerous driving. Upon approaching the actor's vehicle, officers detected the strong smell of alcohol and asked Rottman to perform several field sobriety tests, which he performed poorly on. Rottman, who is best known for his work on Nickelodeon's "Gigantic," as well as appearing in the movie "The House Bunny," reportedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.19% when he later took a breath analysis (more popularly known as a breathalyzer) test. The actor was booked into a local jail and released a few hours later without having to post bail. No court appearance date has yet been announced. This is the first DUI incident for Rottman.
As any Los Angeles DUI defense attorney can tell you (and as Rottman found out the hard way), drinking and driving are taken very seriously in this city. If you have been charged with DUI, finding an experienced Los Angeles DUI defense attorney is the first thing you should do. A Los Angeles DUI defense attorney can look objectively at your case and tell you what to expect of the criminal justice system, as well what punishments you might be facing if you are convicted. For instance, your
Los Angeles DUI defense attorney
might tell you that, depending on certain factors, many first-time DUI offenders will most likely be sentenced to probation and alcohol education classes if they are convicted. In some cases, however, speeding, driving with a child under the age of 15, having an unusually high blood alcohol content, or refusing to submit to chemical testing to determine your blood alcohol content can all potentially put you in jail. A
Los Angeles DUI defense attorney
can also tell you that if this is not your first DUI offense, you might be subjected to harsher penalties such as jail or expensive fines if you have had a prior DUI conviction within the last seven years. Your
Los Angeles DUI defense attorney
can also tell you that aside from your criminal court proceedings, you must schedule a hearing with the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) within ten days of your arrest or you risk losing your driver's license until your criminal proceedings have finished.
