Medeiros Arrested for DUI
Pretty people might get away with a lot in life, but they cannot get away with everything. Model SueLyn Medeiros was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol last week while driving through Hollywood. Local law enforcement agents report seeing Medeiros hit a parked car while driving her DeLorean through city streets. Officers immediately pulled her over and when she opened her car door, reported a strong smell of alcohol. Medeiros, who is known for her curvaceous figure and appearances in hip hop music videos, was asked to perform several field sobriety tests, including walking a straight line. Medeiros was reportedly very flirtatious with officers at the scene, insisting that she was a very famous and rich model. Officers were presumably not impressed and gave Medeiros a breath analysis (or breathalyzer) test. Her blood alcohol content was reportedly 0.14%, well above the legal limit of 0.08%. She was arrested and held on bail for $45,000 when it was discovered that she had a warrant for her arrest on an unrelated legal matter.
Whether you are a gorgeous model or the average Joe, if you have been arrested for drinking and driving, you need to find an experienced Los Angeles DUI defense attorney to defend you right away. Dealing with DUI charges can be complicated and having a good Los Angeles DUI defense attorney by your side to guide you through the process is invaluable. For example, the average person may not know that in Los Angeles, there are two hearings for every one DUI arrest: criminal and Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Hearings with the DMV determine whether or not you can keep your driver's license while your criminal proceedings are underway. DMV hearings can be very technical and are difficult to understand, let alone win, without an experienced
Los Angeles DUI defense attorney representing your interests. As for the criminal portion of your DUI charges, a variety of factors can put you in very real danger of going to jail: prior DUI convictions within the past seven years, speeding, driving with a child under the age of 15, having a blood alcohol concentration of 0.20% or more, or refusing to submit to chemical testing altogether all mean much tougher penalties if the court finds you guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol.
For many first-time DUI offenders, a typical punishment is probation, fines and court-ordered alcohol education classes.
