Man Arrested for Fatal Hit-And-Run
A 24-year-old woman was hit by a car while crossing an intersection in Huntington Beach when she was struck by a car. Oriana Millan was walking with several friends just before two o'clock in the morning last Monday when a silver Toyota Camry struck her and one of her companions before fleeing the scene. Millan was pronounced dead at the scene while one of her friends, Harlan Coffman, was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Local law enforcement agents arrested Jason Roberts, a 32-year-old San Juan Capistrano resident, just four hours later on suspicion of felony hit-and-run. Roberts had apparently called 911 emergency services to report that his car had broken down because he had hit an animal. When officers arrived at the scene, the damage to the car was more consistent with having had a collision with a person and there was physical evidence from the victim on the car. No word has yet been released on when Roberts is expected to appear in court, and police have not released information as to whether or not Roberts may have been driving under the influence of alcohol.
