Maguire Arrested for DUI Twice on the Same Night
A Connecticut man was arrested twice in one night over this past weekend on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. Local law enforcement officials near Danielson, Connecticut say James Maguire, Jr., was initially pulled over around 4:30 in the morning on Interstate 395 for driving without his taillights on. Police at the scene administered a field sobriety test, which Maguire reportedly failed. Police later learned that Maguire had been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI), just hours before near Putnam, Connecticut and had had his driver's license revoked during the first arrest. Maguire was charged by Danielson local law enforcement agents with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), as well as driving on a revoked driver's license. Maguire was being held on $1,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Danielson Superior Court on April 28th.
As an experienced Los Angeles DUI defense lawyer knows, multiple DUIs can really count against you. Each DUI case is different and subject to wildly different punishments under the laws in California. However, a
Los Angeles DUI defense lawyer can tell you that certain factors can lead to sentencing enhancements or more severe punishments. These factors include: prior DUI arrests in the past seven years, driving under the influence with a child under the age of 14 in your vehicle, speeding 20 miles per hour or more above the posted speed limit, being found to have a blood alcohol content of 0.20% (the state's legal limit is 0.08%), or refusing to submit to chemical testing to determine your blood alcohol content. An experienced
Los Angeles DUI defense attorney can tell you that for many first time DUI offenders, probation, license suspension and court-ordered alcohol education classes are very common. However, having one or more of the above-mentioned factors in your case could subject you to potential jail or prison time, in addition to expensive fines and court fees and alcohol treatment programs.
