Ford Pleads Guilty to DUI
Elena Ford, the great-great-granddaughter of the pioneering auto manufacturer Henry Ford, pled guilty yesterday to charges of driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI). Ford was reportedly speeding down a city street in Detroit, Michigan with her 11-year-old son in her vehicle when she drove up onto the street's median and swerved back into traffic. Ford, who is currently the head of global marketing at Ford Motor Company, was pulled over by local law enforcement agents and given a field sobriety test, which she reportedly failed. Ford's blood alcohol content was reportedly 0.18%--nearly twice the legal limit of 0.08% when tested. She was arrested and spent five hours in a local jail before being released on $500 bond. Ford pled guilty in a Michigan courthouse and was given 24 months of probation and a $1,518 fine as punishment. Ford was also ordered by the court to attend counseling sessions and perform 240 hours of community service. This is the first DUI incident for Elena Ford.
