Teen Fingers Mom in DUI Case

Many states allow citizens to call police stations if they think they have spotted a drunk driver.  However, callers never call in tips on their own family members, or at least, "almost" never.  A 13 year old girl had to call the police and get her mother arrested for drunk driving while the girl was inside the car.  The teen girl was in the car with her 10 year old brother when she realized her 48 year old mother was too drunk to drive.  The woman was driving aggressively and weaving in and out of traffic when the girl called 911.  New York State Troopers found the vehicle, pulled it off to the side of the road and gave the woman a Field Sobriety Test (which she failed).  During the Field Sobriety Test, it was discovered that she had a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) of .18, which is more than twice the legal limit.

Field Sobriety Tests can involve any number of tests, some of which are scientific and others are motor skill tests.  However, each of these tests can be flawed in their measurements or in their execution, and only a skilled Los Angeles Criminal Defense Attorney can help you build a solid defense.  A  Field Sobriety Test may consist of an officer asking you to put your arms to your side and touch your finger to your nose, to stand on one leg for a period of time, walk heel to toe in a straight line, to follow a light with your eyes or some other motor skills test.  A Field Sobriety Test may also consist of a portable breath test device.

If you have been arrested for or charged with driving under the influence as the result of a failed Field Sobriety Test, you should call the Los Angeles DUI Defense Attorneys at Kestenbaum Eisner & Gorin, LLP at 877-781-1570.  Our experienced, skilled team of lawyers can provide a top notch level of defense before, during and after a drunk driving trial.  With over 50 years of combined experience, including years in Los Angeles District Attorneys' Offices, we can help you understand the inner workings of the criminal justice system.
