Los Angeles DUI Defense and Lindsay Lohan
There may be no greater example of how complex, drawn out and tragic driving under the influence charges can be than the case of Lindsay Lohan. There are so many outside factors involved in this case, and Ms. Lohan pushed the law so far that even a skilled Los Angeles DUI Defense Attorney was having a hard time keeping her out of prison.
As a result, Ms. Lohan was sentenced to 90 days in jail as well as 90 days in an inpatient rehab. Lindsay has until July 20 to turn herself into authorities, and beginning her jail sentence. Most likely she will not serve every day of the 90 day sentence for driving under the influence in Los Angeles, but she will likely serve at least 20+ days of it. Her Los Angeles DUI Defense Attorney fought long and hard for the former teen starlet, even while Lilo (as the paparazzi call her) painted curse words on her fingers nails and made it difficult for herself throughout the process. She will serve her sentence at Lynwood California's Century Regional Detention Facility, where she served 84 minutes of a previous drunk driving related sentence in 2007. Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie also served time for their drunken driving charges there.
The LA Sheriff's Department says that the average female inmate in Lohan's situation will serve at least 25 percent of her sentence, which would mean roughly 23 days. She may also be facing a contempt of court charge for painting "F*** U" on her nails while her Los Angeles DUI Defense Attorney was trying to keep her out of prison. That charge could lead to three to five extra days in jail for her.
Lindsay Lohan has Multiple DUI convictions, and was recently fitted with a SCRAM ankle bracelet which detects how much, if any, alcohol the wearer was drinking. If the alarm goes off before her jail sentence, it could lead to even more jail time. It has been a disastrous time for the young actress, however she disobeyed the courts, made life more complicated for herself and even made life so difficult for her Los Angeles DUI Defense Attorney that she quit! While driving under the influence in Los Angeles can be prosecuted in far too harsh a manner, there are simple things any defendant can do to make sure they give themselves the best chance of avoiding jail time. For example:
- Don't be late to court
- Submit yourself willingly to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings before your trial
- Closely listen to and obey they counsel of your Los Angeles DUI Defense Attorney
