Chase DUI
An unidentified woman who was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) led local law enforcement officers on a high-speed chase through Los Angeles and Orange Counties for more than half an hour before finally being pulled over. Very little information has been given out at this point, but police reports indicate that the unidentified woman was initially spotted by police around 11:12 p.m. after failing to yield while traveling south on the 710 freeway in East Los Angeles. Instead of pulling over as requested by the police, the woman, who was driving a tan Toyota Corolla, fled from police at speeds of nearly 90 miles per hour. The driver, pursued by police, reached speeds of up to 120 miles per hour, crossing side streets and leading officers on a chase down the 605 and 5 freeways before finally being pulled over around 11:44 p.m. on Garden Grove Boulevard just west of Knott Boulevard in Orange County.
Driving under the influence arrests happen mostly because police officers either suspect or have some evidence that the driver is driving impaired because of alcohol consumption. As any Los Angeles DUI defense attorney can tell you, being convicted of DUI is a serious matter that will go on your criminal record, with consequences as serious as the loss of your driver's license, heavy fines, probation, mandatory alcohol education or rehabilitation and even jail. First-time offenders who are convicted of DUI can typically expect probation and fines of varying amounts. Experienced
Los Angeles DUI defense attorneys, however, know that a number of factors can make these consequences much more serious. Driving at speeds highly in excess of the posted speed limit can make your punishment more severe upon conviction, as can driving under the influence with a child under the age of 14 in your vehicle. Having a blood alcohol content that is significantly higher than the legal limit of 0.08% or causing an accident that involves property damage can also garner stricter punishments.
Los Angeles DUI defense attorneys know that causing injury or death to another person because you were drinking and driving is a serious offense that will most likely be classified as a felony and land you in either a Los Angeles County Jail or a California State Prison.
