Actress Estella Warren was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) last night in what turned out to be a rather eventful arrest. According to reports, just before midnight last night Warren crashed into three parked cars with her Toyota Prius. Warren reportedly drove away but was stopped by local law enforcement agents a short time later. Police had reportedly placed her under arrest for DUI when she assaulted one of the officers at the scene by kicking him or her, and generally resisting arrest. After being taken to a local police station, Warren reportedly managed to get out of her handcuffs and run out of the building before police officers recaptured her. Warren was released from police custody nearly 15 hours later and is being charged with DUI, hit-and-run, assault and felony escape. The 32-year-old actress has appeared in numerous films and television shows, including "Planet of the Apes" from 2001, as well as having modeled in magazines such as "Sports Illustrated," "Vogue," and "Vanity Fair." No word has been given on when Warren will be required to appear in court.
As Warren's crazy night shows, alcohol makes people do some very misguided things. And if you talk to any experienced Los Angeles DUI defense attorney, they will tell you that alcohol can make you a very poor driver, which is why it is illegal to drink and drive in the first place. Warren's behavior aside, however, an experienced
Los Angeles DUI defense attorney knows that it is not just alcohol that can make a person drive poorly. Poor weather or road conditions, fatigue and even other drivers can have an important effect on how you drive. A skilled
Los Angeles DUI defense attorney also knows that blood alcohol science can be an unreliable method of determining a person's sobriety when driving. In Los Angeles, the legal limit for blood alcohol concentration is 0.08%. At or above that number will mostly result in a DUI charge if you have been pulled over by local law enforcement. However, a good
Los Angeles DUI defense attorney knows that because people come in all shapes and sizes, not to mention with very different tolerances for alcohol, two drinks may make one person inebriated yet not affect another.
A good Los Angeles DUI defense attorney knows that even at 0.08% blood alcohol concentration, two people can actually function and perform very differently depending on a variety of factors, and a standard, one-size-fits-all taken by Los Angeles courts is not always as accurate as it can or should be.
